I talked with a friend about whether to put in a formal complaint to the uni. She is a counsellor so understandably wanted to know why emotionally I wanted to complain. Truth is cos I complain about a lot of things I actually did not want to and for reasons I do not understand nothing about the course seemed so important. I also do not believe that any complaint will be properly heard and in my case it is a vague sense of never quite being engaged with by my tutor so a difficult complaint to address. I know that if I had had the money to stay on I would have had to have worked a hell of a lot harder and maybe really challenge my approach to study, and that is what I actually wanted. I still believe in my work though so will carry on trying to get somewhere with my exhibition ideas. I mulled over whether to complain, visited the V and A where an Ele Carpenter was getting a whole bunch of people to embroider computer words. The collaborative nature of the exercise intrigued me and related to what I would have liked to do, so I wanted to talk with her and see how it sort of worked. I also did some work and contributed to her project so that was really nice. And then I did it I sent off my complaint.
